In order to improve the energy efficiency of electrical equipment and products in various industries and improve the economic and environmental benefits, Australia and New Zealand issued the Greenhouse and Energy Low Standards Technical Regulations (referred to as GEMS) and took effect on October 1, 2012. The GEMS certification belongs to Australian mandatory certification, products that are within the control must have GEMS certification before they can be sold in the market, and the applicant must be a locally registered company in Australia.

GEMS certification is a compulsory performance certification formally implemented by the governments of Australia and New Zealand on October 1, 2012, to replace MEPS certification.
