Battery Rohs instruction

On December 10, 2013, the European Union’s Official Journal (OJ) issued new directive 2013/56/EU, amending battery directive 2006/66/EC. The directive took effect on July 1, 2015. The new and old directives have been modified to limit the use of substances such as mercury and cadmium, as shown in the figure below. For batteries and accumulators that do not meet the requirements of the Directive and have entered the market before the relevant restrictions become effective, they can continue to sell until inventory is sold out.

Battery Manufacturer or Importer Registration Obligations:

All battery manufacturers (manufacturers or importers) need to register batteries and batteries that are first placed in the European Union.

Registration must be registered in a paper or electronic form with a member authority or an accredited agency and obtain a registration number.

EU battery directive label requirements:

1. All batteries, batteries should be marked with a crossed wheeled bin sign.

2. When the content of mercury (Hg) in the battery exceeds 5ppm, or the content of cadmium (Cd) exceeds 20ppm, or the content of plutonium (Pb) exceeds 40ppm, the chemical of the type of metal that exceeds the limit should be attached under the sign of the wheeled bin that is crossed. The symbol, and the area occupied by the chemical symbol, is at least one quarter of the crossed-out wheeled bin signs.

3. Capacity identification: The capacity of all batteries is clearly visible, visible and difficult to wipe.

4. Signage size requirements: Should cover 3% of the battery, battery or battery side area, but not more than 5cmx5cm; If the battery is cylindrical, the symbol should cover 1.5% of the battery or battery surface area, and not more than 5cmx 5cm; If the size of the symbol may be less than 0.5cm x 0.5cm due to the area, the battery, battery or battery pack itself does not need to be marked, but the packaging should be printed with an area of not less than 1cm x 1cm related symbols.

The relationship between the EU Battery Directive and the ROHS and WEEE directives.

5. In material restrictions, the RoHS Directive restricts heavy metals in electronic appliances, such as mercury and cadmium; this does not apply to batteries. The limits of mercury and cadmium substances in batteries follow the battery directive.

6. On recycling, the WEEE instruction is higher than the battery instruction. The battery instruction is followed on the premise that the WEEE Directive does not have special requirements for batteries and batteries in electronic appliances.
