    What is ETL certification

    ETL is the abbreviation of ETL Testing Laboratories Inc. Founded by Thomas Edison and in 1896, it is an NRTL (national accredited laboratory) approved by OSHA (US Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration). After more than 100 years of experience, the ETL logo has been widely recognized and accepted by major retailers in North America and enjoys a high reputation like UL. ETL Inspection Marks Any electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical product with an ETL inspection mark indicates that it has been tested and complies with relevant industry standards.

    ETL certified product types

    Electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical products

    Any electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical product that bears the ETL symbol indicates that the product has met the minimum requirements for the generally accepted U.S. and Canadian product safety standards and that it has been tested to meet relevant product safety standards. ETL also requires that its production site has been inspected, and the applicant agrees to conduct regular follow-up inspections of its factories thereafter to ensure that the product consistently meets this requirement.

    At present, there are two ways to obtain an ETL certificate. One is to pass a CB test report, and the other is to apply directly. The required information is as follows:

    1.     Application Form

    2.     Copy of CB Test Certificate (Direct Application Not Required)

    3.     Copy of CB Test Report (Direct Application Not Required)

    4.     Samples (4-8)

    5.     Other relevant test results and product data, such as product descriptions, photographs, component lists, product performance and specifications, and circuit schematics. (If you go through the CB report, you need to conduct a difference test)

    Factory inspection

    Before ETL certification, factory inspection is required. From then on, factory inspections will be carried out from time to time. The cost of the ETL will also need to pay the license plate fee on a quarterly basis in addition to the factory inspection fee.
