The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification is India's mandatory market access certification. Its form is very similar to the domestic CCC certification. Testing must be performed in a qualified laboratory in India.
India's BIS is a third-party certification agency. The products that it certifies will be marked with the ISI label. The label has a large number of influences in India and its neighboring countries, a good reputation and a reliable guarantee for product quality. Once the product is marked with the "ISI logo" it means that it complies with relevant standards in India and consumers can buy it with confidence.
After August 13, 2015, all rechargeable batteries for portable products need BIS registration. Cell only needs to obtain BIS registration only when it conducts commercial transactions in the Indian market.
Certification standards:
IS 16046:
2012 Sealed Secondary Cells/Batteries containing Alkaline or other non-acid Electrolyte for use in Portable Applications
Test items:
1. Continuous low-rate charging: charge for 28 days according to the method specified by the manufacturer
Acceptance criteria: no fire, no explosion, no leakage.
2. Vibration: simulate the vibration caused by transport
Acceptance criteria: no fire, no explosion, no leakage.
3. Moulded case stress at high ambient temperature: When the battery is used at a high ambient temperature does not expose internal components
Acceptance criteria: No physical distortion of the battery case resulting in exposure of internal components.
4. Temperature cycling: The battery cannot be ignited or explode when exposed to high temperatures and low temperatures.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion, no leakage.
5. Incorrect installation of a cell (Nickel system only): Simulated when a single-cell battery is used incorrectly in a multi-core installation, it must not cause a fire or explosion.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
6. External short circuit: short-circuit positive and negative poles cannot catch fire or explode
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
7. Free fall: The battery is dropped from a height of 1m to the floor without fire or explosion
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
8. Mechanical shock (crash hazard): Simulates shocks encountered during transportation or handling, cannot catch fire or explode, or leaks
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion, no leakage.
9. Thermal abuse: When the battery fails to fire or explode at an extremely high temperature (130 degrees)
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
10. Crushing of cells: Squeeze a battery with a force of 13KN. Do not catch fire or explode.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
11. Low pressure: Simulate the low pressure (11.6Kp) encountered during air transport. Do not catch fire or explode.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion, no leakage.
12. Overcharge for nickel systems: Charging batteries or batteries at 2.5 times the recommended charging current to 250% of rated capacity, without fire or explosion
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
13. Overcharge for lithium systems: charging for a longer period of time according to the manufacturer's given charging method, can not catch fire or explode
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
14. Forced discharge: A single cell in an appliance containing multiple cells is subject to reverse polarity and cannot catch fire or explode
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
15. Cell protection against a high charging rate (lithium systems only): The batteries in the battery pack with the charger malfunctioning or in parallel with the batteries are subjected to excessive charging current and cannot catch fire or explode.
Acceptance criteria: No fire, no explosion.
IS 16046:
In 2012, the standard content of IEC 62133:2002 was adopted, and there was no difference in the test items.
we has been committed to the development of the international testing and certification market, calling various resources to actively seek out the best channels for BIS certification. Our services:
1. Sample pre-testing: Pre-test evaluation of the sample to ensure that the local laboratory test in India is passed once;
2. Test file information: Assist in submitting various data that meet the requirements of Indian test laboratories;
3, sample transport and customs clearance: to assist the sample transport and customs clearance;
4. Progress of the case test: actively follow up the test progress and provide regular feedback;
5. Review and registration: Assist in the submission of various documents that comply with the BIS registration to ensure that the audit is successful and the registration is finally successful.
